using existing # till port completes

Customer service said i could still use my net 10 phone till my # ports over from sprint and a new sim card is mailed to me, that was like 4 hours ago. My sprint is already deactivated and I can't use the net 10 phone anymore. I was under the impression that i could use the net 10 phone with the # it came with till sim card gets here. Looks like the port is done, my ported number is already in my net 10 phone. Congrats on the speed of service but it looks like I'm without a phone till a sim card gets here. I guess my old number can't be floating out there while I use the new net 10 number temporarily till the sim gets here. I think I answered my own question but correct me if I'm wrong.
