Amateur Hour!

Interestingly, porting from another carrier, requires a replacement SIM card, as has been explained. More interesting however, is the fact that Net10 cuts your service off on your existing phone when the port authorization is received from the old carrier. Net Result?? Your current Net10 phone goes inactive without warning until you can install the new SIM card!! Of course that is in 3-5 days, if you are lucky. Truly Amateur Hour with these folks. Anyone with half a brain realizes the old number must not be turned off prior to installing the new SIM card. This is another example of how, while this company's actual service is fine, its back office and business practices need to grow up a bunch. As for me, the jury is out; I am not at all sure the savings with Net10 are worth the hassle of half-baked operations you have to deal with. BTW, I'm no novice with cell service; I have been carrying one or more phones since 1984, started with Cellular One.
