Can I transfer my land line number (still active) to my net

Postby BooBooKitty » Mon Jan 10, 2011 7:57 am

I have a landline and service from AT&T. I would like to discontinue service from AT&T and have the telephone number transferred to a prepay net 10 cell phone I bought.I have several questions. ***Please answer them here in this forum, because I am not able to understand the customer service representatives on the telephone.*** I have a slight hearing problem, and cannot understand people wh*speak with non-American accents because of it.The net 10 phone I have has not had minutes added for 7 months, so it says 'unregistered SIM'. It had it's own phone number, and I made calls on it a few times when it still had minutes on it. As far as I know, it is still working fine.If I have my old landline number ported to this phone, how long will the process take? Will I have to buy minutes before the process of porting the number to the cell phone has been completed? Also, will you have to send me a new SIM card, or can I continue using the old one? Also, will I be able to continue using my old phone until the porting process has been completed? (I don't want to miss any calls.)Thanks.

Good day, BooBooKitty. My name is Jessica Net and I'll be addressing your questions. Porting a number from a landline phone to NET10 may take 30 days to complete. You also have to purchase minutes for the phone before porting the number over to NET10 since it's no longer active. New SIM card will be sent to you for the number to work because old SIM card has already been expired. Also, your landline phone may stop working within the porting period since number will need to be removed from old provider to transfer over to NET10 service. I believe this answers your questions. It's been a pleasure helping you. Have a good day.

Nevermind. It took a couple of days to get an answer here, and I cannot understand phone support because of their accents. Therefore, I went ahead and signed up for v onage lite. Lord knows, it can't be any worse.
