Will I be notified when my number is ported?

It's been about a week since I requested my number from tmobile be ported. My new net10 phone says the SIM has not been activated. Should I activate the sim or wait until the number is ported? Will I be notified via email when the port is complete?

Hi Matthew. My name is NET10 Stephanie and I will be addressing your question. The process of porting the number will take 7-10 business days. You don't have to activate the sim card because that will automatically be activated once the number is ported completely. Once the port is completed, you will be notified via phone call by one of our representatives from the Portability Dept. that you can now start using the phone after activating teh phone.
