Porting Phone Number from Net10 to another provider

I am planning to port my phone number to another provider soon. The new provider web site states I will need the "account number from your former carrier", "corresponding password, pass code or PIN code number" and zip code.

I logged into my Net10 account to locate this information but rather than finding the required information on porting out, I found my way to this Support Forum like so many others I see have posted the same type of request.

I read some of the prior posts and found one response that said: "The account number is the serial number or the IMEI/ESN/MEID DEC of your phone. If you are using a GSM BYOP phone, the account number is the last 15 digits of your SIM card. There's no PIN or password." Every other post I read was responded to with a private message from the support tech to the poster.

The purpose of a support forum is to let user's find answers to their questions by reading previously posted answers to similar problems or requests. If you are going to respond to each one privately we might as well be using support tickets.

Porting a phone number out is a common enough request that the information should be readily available. Please confirm if the account number is the serial number or the IMEI/ESN/MEID DEC of your phone and that there is no PIN or password required to port my number out.

Hi mkriek. I'm NET10 Larry. I apologize for the inconvenience. For details of your NET10 service, please visit http://www.net10wireless.com. The account number for BYOP devices vary by phone technology. For CDMA technology phones, the account number is the IMEI. For GSM phones, the last 15-digit of the SIM card.
