Getting A New Ph #, Not A Net10 User Yet

Hi, I have my own unlocked smartphone that I am bringing from Europe that has no US ph #, and want to use Net10 pay-as-you-go plan. How do I get a new ph # in order to buy a plan??

I know I can buy a SIM from Net10 & get an umlimited data plan and get a ph #, but if I do that, can I use that same SIM to then buy a pay-as-you-go plan later?

I would prefer to start with a pay-as-you-go plan, but see nowhere on the Net10 site that allows me to buy a new SIM with a ph # for my own phone
