PORTING NUMBER TAKING A WEEK???

Help! I bought a new unlocked GSM phone from Best Buy, then bought the Net 10 bring your own phone activation kit, followed the instructions, bought my plan, installed the specified SIM and set up everything, did this on Jan 4 now it is Jan 9 and the phone still has not been activated! Message on the new phone still says "No SIM - Emergency calls only" although I am sure the new sim card is in the phone. Has anyone else experienced THIS long of a wait time to get service switched over from AT&T to Net10? I'm just wondering if Net10 has forgotten me or if this normally takes this long??? I guess all these days I am waiting are coming off my 30 day plan also, so there's more money wasted. VERY FRUSTRATED! and regretful that I have done this.
