Data Working but not able send or receive text

Just connected my second phone to net10 and I got the email stating that my number transfer was complete. I was able to put in the APN settings and data seems to work but neither sending or receiving text messages it working.

I talked to Tech support and thought that I got the issue resolved but after further investigation I have not. So I searched the internet and found the following to better explain what's happening and maybe this can help you all get this resolved with T-Mobile. Not Sure if you all would have to contact T-Mobile or if they would talk to me being a NET10 User who is just using there network in a BYOP capacity.

I have recently ported my number from Republic wireless to T-Mobile. I have the ASUS Zenfone 2. I can use data, make calls, and send text messages perfectly fine. When it comes to receiving text messages I can only do it from T-Mobile devices. I had someone on Sprint and AT&T text me multiple times and I received nothing but when my father, sister, and T-Mobile representative all texted me, they came in fine. No problem at all.



I have tried messing with the apn as well as restarting the phone and changing the texting app.

Hi-you might try contacting porting dept. which this person did with similar issue and ultimately was resolved.

I recently had a voip (aka like landline) phone number ported to my t-mobile cell.



Since the number was ported everything works (data, making/receiving calls) but I cannot send/receive texts from other carriers except for T-mobile.



I receive T-mobile system text messages and I can send/receive text messages with my step-brother who's on T-Mobile but my friends who are on AT&T do not receive my text messages and I do not receive theirs.



I can also text message myself. And yes, the message centre number is correct.



I've been having trouble getting through to the right person at customer support who can help me. I've had customer representatives try and insist the problem is with my handset and that I should call samsung (lol) and try the sim in another phone.



Anyway, the problem seems to be an inter-network routing problem with text messaging ever since this number was ported, most likely due to the fact this did not used to be a cell phone number and was unable to send/recv text messages in the past.



I've seen this problem be reported on the T-mobile forums many times, as well as with carriers in the UK, NZ, and more so while it's not exactly a new problem it's still a pretty rare problem and most people are stumped by it.



Can anyone at T-mobile please help? It's been a problem for over a week now!

After being on the phone for an hour it looks like I am finally getting help getting the issue resolved.



For anyone else with this problem, this is the process:



1. Call during business hours. The technical specialists only seem to work business hours. East coast business hours.

2. Call t-mobile, say 'representative' to speak to someone and skip the annoying IVR.

3. When you're finally speaking to someone, give them their name when they ask, be polite, and ask to be redirected to the porting department as you have an issue with your number since it was ported. Hopefully it won't take much (or anything) to convince them to just forward your call. Talking to the first line customer representatives is basically a waste of time as they can't help you with this.

4. Once you're talking to someone at porting you can now describe your problem. They'll get some details from you and check your account and say they need to forward you to a technical specialist to help with your problem.

5. Hooray!

6. In my case (because I was on prepaid) the technical specialist had to forward me on to somebody who deals with prepaid stuff, and this final person could finally help. Got my number rebroadcasted and opened a ticket and said he'll call me back once the background processes are done to see if the problem is fixed as all the details were on a problem ticket so I won't get lost. I was also given the problem ticket number.



So hopefully in the next 24hrs this crazy issue will finally be resolved, its been going on for 2 weeks now!

And still nobody is able to help me fix this problem.



I have a problem ticket number, and they've been unable to fix the problem and closed the ticket as resolved.



I've been very patient but this has taken over TWO WEEKS to resolve now and IS STILL NOT RESOLVED.



I cannot receive text messages from my bank in the US, let alone my bank in NZ or Australia, and this is causing me serious problems now.



Who the F*** can I talk to at T-mobile to get this problem resolved ASAP because I am simply going to switch carriers at this point as T-mobile has clearly proven to be incompetent and unable to resolve a problem, and nobody at t-mobile seems to give a S*** to help.

Hi Melanie, thanks for replying. What is the best way to contact then, I've called up every few days on 1-800-937-8997 and 1-877-778-2106 for the last 2 weeks and never get far. I have a problem ticket 8267818 which was closed as resolved but should be reopened and was told somebody will call me but so far nobody has!



I discovered something new yesterday. I have a friend on Verizon who CAN text with me, so this may just be an AT&T problem. I also don't get Bank of America's texts (not sure which provider they use, maybe AT&T.)

Not sure if you all did something with t-mobile but issue now seems to be resolved for now. I will update if anything issue occurs again.
