I recently moved into an area with spotty CDMA network coverage (text and data are fine, calling doesn't work) necessitating the change to a GSM network. My current phone was a "bring your own" and after checking the IMEI it seemed I might be able to simply swap SIM cards, so I decided to try it since it would be much cheaper than having to get a new phone. Initially the transfer of number and service to the new SIM worked, however, the SIM proved to not work on my phone (it's locked to CDMA).
I tried to swap my phone number back to my old phone/SIM and at the time it worked, but when I restarted the phone the next day it said I had a new number. I've tried removing my phone from the account and reactivating it, but it again gave me a new number rather than properly switching my old number back. So I'm currently stuck with my original number on a SIM card, and a random number on my semi-working phone. I'd like to get my original number switched back to my phone and have the SIM removed from my account.
