Net10 BYOP sim card won't activate

Hi,
I bought a byop kit about 2 years ago. I have only now tried to activate it and the SIM card# is being rejected.
It starts with 8901.
I have called all numbers regarding support but it is just an automated service that says that there is a problem with the number and redirects me back to enter the sim # again.
What can I do to get this working? Did I just waste $40?
