I have a Verizon branded Motorola MAXX (Model XT912) and I cannot get it activated from either the BYOP site or Customer Service. This phone uses only CDMA in the USA but also has a SIM card slot for GSM operation when outside the USA. My phone has no active Verizon service plus the GSM SIM slot is empty.
If I do the compatibility check it asks "Please choose the carrier compatible with your phone, AT&T Compatible, T-Mobile Compatible, Unlocked Phone, Other Carriers" This question seems odd to me since it is a CDMA phone so I select Other Carriers. The result is "Good news, your phone is compatible to use on Net10." It also says "For your particular phone only the Service Plan Card and Network Access Code are needed for activation. The SIM Card is not needed." I have already purchased a NET10 Activation Code.
When I go to BYOP registration page and enter the MEID, ZIP, LTE=Yes, iPhone=No, it fails with the error text "We are unable to process your transaction at this time."
The Customer Service representative was of no help. After gathering the same information it wouldn't work for her either. She said that she was unable to proceed and advised me that my phone would not work in my zip code. I explained that my existing CDMA phone, whose NET10 service I wanted to transfer to the new phone gets excellent reception in this zip code and that it has good 3G and 4G service. She then said that perhaps my phone needed to be unblocked. Remember, that we haven't gotten to any step where NET10 would communicate with the phone - the phone isn't being accepted by the Activation process! BTW, Verizon states on its website "We do not lock our 4G LTE devices, and no code is needed to program them for use with another carrier."
I am suspicious that since the compatibility test offered GSM choices first instead of CDMA, that NET10 has an error in its database and doesn't classify the radio technology for the RAZR MAXX. In any case I am stuck - I cannot activate through BYOP or Customer Service.
